Different types of Innovation

In this course we mainly distinguish between three different types of innovation – because it happens in different contexts and has different outcomes.

We will use the names given to these types of innovation by Clayton Christensen in honour of the significant influence he had on our thinking (Clay passed away early this year (2020) and its is a great loss to humanity).

They are;

• Disruptive (or Empowering) Innovation (future focused innovation in VeriSM)
• Sustaining Innovation (very similar to the VeriSM customer focused innovation – but the two is not 100% the same), and
• Efficiency Innovation (once again similar to the VeriSM operationally focused innovation, but the scope in VeriSM is much boarder)
